What it does

This device is used when the electronic steering lock (ELV/ESL) fails. In Volvo SPA-platform cars, a failed steering lock can cause:

• Car won’t start even with a working key
• “Steering lock service” or immobilizer errors
• ELV module not unlocking the steering column

The emulator simulates a working steering lock signal, so the car ECU thinks the steering lock is OK and allows the engine to start.
