Activation Functions

1. Read / Write ECU

   • Full read/write support via CAN TP2.0 and K-Line.

   • Supports standard flash, remap, and bench programming modes.

2. Backup & Restore

   • Full ECU backup before any modification.

   • Ability to restore original firmware in case of error.

3. Bootloader Mode Support

   • Some ME(D)17 / EDC17 ECUs allow direct bootloader programming.

   • Ensures safe flashing even if the ECU firmware is corrupted.

4. Security & Checksum Handling

   • Automatic calculation of checksums during write operations.

   • Handles immobilizer-related security if linked to ECU (requires correct key data).

5. Protocol Switching

   • PCMflash automatically selects between CAN TP2.0 and K-Line depending on ECU model and year.

   • Can force K-Line for older ECUs that do not fully support CAN.
