Xhorse – Key Tool Plus Read BMW ISN on bench

The Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus supports bench-reading the BMW ISN (Immobilizer Secret Number) from many BMW ECUs when used with the right adapters and licenses. This is essential for programming keys when you’re doing it on the bench (ECU removed or powered externally) rather than directly via OBD on the vehicle.

Required Equipment

To read BMW ISN on the bench with Key Tool Plus:

1. Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus Pad – the main programming tablet.

2. Xhorse XDNP30 Bosch ECU Adapter – this adapter connects the ECU to the Key Tool Plus without soldering.

3. 12 V Power Supply – to power the ECU/adapter while bench-reading.

4. BMW ECU (DME) removed or accessible – supported ECUs include MSV80, MSV90, MSD80/81/85/87, and many Bosch units (N20, N55, B38, B48, B58, etc.).
